Our Story

513FREE started in 2007 with a vision to use worship and music to reach those who are often forgotten, and to do that completely free of charge. Since our inception, we’ve led or participated in nearly 800 events nationwide. Those events include prisons, homeless shelters, youth events, conferences, church services and more - each presenting unique opportunities to share the Gospel.

In 2015, 513FREE chose to intentionally focus solely on ministry to prisons and inmates. Through those efforts, we helped to create and launch a national prison magazine (The Pen Project), a mentorship program for at-risk youth (Tandem Mentorship), and we also helped with the groundwork of an aftercare program (reentry) in Eau Claire County.

In 2018, through much prayer, the 513FREE Board of Directors felt led to move back to it’s original roots as a music ministry. Our mission is to reach and influence the world for Christ through music and worship. Though we still travel to and play in prisons, we’ve opened up to the possibility of playing at other events and different venues.

We still choose share our music and gifts free of charge. In 2018 we’re scheduled to lead at many prisons throughout the midwest, and other worship events throughout the US. Though we’ve reduced the frequency of our events, the impact remains the same. We consistently see men and women experiencing the transforming power of the Gospel.

Dear Sirs - I would just like to write to let you know that not only did I enjoy your recent concert here at Jackson Correctional Institution, but it worked a miracle by bringing me to know Christ as my Savior. Your work and all that you do is appreciated. May the Lord continue to bless all of you.
